Vidpk.com Introduces Sleek New Layout
To officially launch its sleek new layout, Vidpk.com recently held an exclusive event in Karachi at The Regent Plaza which was attended by various bloggers and TV channels. Some noteworthy guests were journalists Alina Maniar and Afifa Maniar, as well as social media experts Danish Mughal, Husnain Minawala and Bilal Paracha.
In the early days of streaming media, watching videos and listening to music online wasn’t always fun. If you had a slow computer or a dial-up Internet connection, you could spend more time staring at the word “buffering” on a status bar than watching videos or listening to songs. Streaming videos and audios has come a long way since then and Pakistan has not been far behind in this. With services like broadband and 3G now readily available, Pakistanis too prefer to catch up on their favorite shows/movies online, as it is much more convenient. Keeping this in mind, Vidpk.com was launched back in 2007 to provide a platform for distributing local content legally. The only website of Pakistan featuring authorized content, Vidpk has managed to acquire over 1500 TV shows and 300 movies in the course of 7 years.
The VidPK launch event in Karachi was commenced with an informative presentation shown by CEO and Founder of Vidpk, Abbas Akhtar. During the presentation, Abbas told attendees about the inspiration behind the website which he first decided to launch when he was living abroad.
“When living abroad, I realized that there is a lot of demand for Pakistani content. Our TV shows and movies have a huge fan following abroad. Unfortunately, the content was not that easily available as it was scattered all across the internet. That is when I thought of starting an online portal which would feature only Pakistani content but at the same time it would also be authorized to provide the makers with their due credit” stated Abbas Akhtar.
Abbas feels there is a lot of great entertainment specific content in Pakistan which needs to be streamlined for people to be able to access it from one platform, which is what his site strives to do. Guests at the launch event also got a glimpse of the kind of content which is available on the website such as old classic PTV shows, along with all latest TV shows.
After serving of hi-tea, the event was concluded with a performance by Karachi based band AXIS which sang tunes such as Woh Kaun Thi by The Vital Signs, Mairee by Euphoria and Tere Ishq Mein by Ali Shehki. The audience enjoyed their performance immensely and requested for their favorite songs to be performed more than twice.
The official radio partner for the event was Apna Karachi FM 107
