Uber Pakistan is set to turn your entrepreneurial dreams into reality with UberPITCH in 840 seconds

Uber, the international smartphone app that seamlessly connects riders to drivers, has partnered with ArabNet to bring once in a lifetime opportunity for its valued riders in Pakistan — the UberPITCH. The aim of the initiative is to connect aspiring entrepreneurs with potential investors to bring their ideas to life. The service is currently available in Lahore, Karachi & Islamabad.

With UberPITCH, any rider with a great mission for a startup will get a chance to accomplish it within 14 minutes (840 seconds) of their Uber ride – the 14 minutes (840 seconds) that can make their future with a touch of a button. In its efforts to support aspiring entrepreneurs, Uber has brought select investors on board who will fund the winning pitches.

The application process for UberPITCH took place in September. The finalists were provided with a promo code to unlock the UberPitch view in their Uber apps. With this promo code, they can book a ride between 11 am – 3 pm PST today, October 7, 2017.

The finalists will be accompanied by select mentors during their free 14-minute Uber ride.
The process begins with the finalists requesting an Uber through the UberPITCH view. Their mentor picks them up for a 14 minute ride. Finalists make their startup pitch in the first 7 minutes of the ride after which their mentors will provide their feedback in the remaining 7 minutes of the 14 minute UberPITCH ride.

The winners of UberPITCH will be announced in the following week and will be connected to some of the region’s top investors.

The mentors for UberPitch were follows: Shehriar Ashraf (Gulf Minerals), Usman Mirza (Lackson Investment) in Karachi, Abid Malik (Indus Ventures), Khurram Zafar (LUMS Center of Entreprenurship) and Arzish Azam (Startup Grind Islamabad) in Lahore and Aban Haq (Karandaaz), Anusheh Ashraf (Invest2Innovate) and Rabeel Warraich (Sarmayacar) in Islamabad.

Apart from helping millions of Pakistanis move around the cities by offering access to affordable, reliable and most importantly safe rides, Uber is utilizing its platform to support the community on a greater level. As a responsible corporate organization, Uber works on the fundamental of giving the community back with every opportunity that comes its way. Currently, over 25 thousand drivers are using the app to be connected to part time work, and the number keeps growing every month.

What is Uber?

Uber is available on all iOS, Android, Blackberry 7 and Windows smartphones. Users simply download the free app and create an account to get riding.

Every potential partner driver must undergo a screening process before they can use Uber. Once passed, the incredible technology connects successful independent partner drivers to more riders, so they can take more trips per hour. The partner drivers who partner with Uber choose when they drive, and can dictate their own schedule, day-to-day, week-to-week. Uber is creating thousands of similar economic opportunities for people in every city where the service is available.

The app uses GPS-enabled maps to find the closest available partner driver, usually just minutes away. Once requested, the rider sees the partner driver’s photo, name and car registration and can watch on their smartphone in real-time as the vehicle arrives. They can also check whether others have had a good experience with him or her. The app notifies the rider when their partner driver has arrived, so gone are the days of waiting outside in the dark.

During the trip, riders can share their estimated time of arrival or a live map with friends or family who can track their progress and know when to expect them. And at the end of the journey, the trip can be completely cashless, as payment can be made automatically made through app wishes so there’s no worrying about carrying enough cash. These features provide increased safety as well as unprecedented convenience.

After every ride, you and your partner drivers need to rate each other and provide feedback.  Uber’s safety team reviews this information and investigates any issues. Plus there is 24/7 support so if something happens, whether it’s a traffic accident or a disagreement, our customer support staff are ready to respond to any issues at any time.
