Shiny Toy Guns and Riaz Shahid Films’ announce debut collaborative venture: Mission 5
UPDATE: Shiny Toy Guns and Shaan Shahid jointly decided to halt the production of Mission 5 due to ongoing scheduling problems, which both the producers and director felt were an impediment to the success of a project as extensive in scale as Mission 5.
The decision to call off production was mutually and amicably decided by all parties involved in the best interest of the film, since the script demanded a specific season for filmmaking and production.
“Shaan is a dear friend and a fantastic individual to work with. Shiny Toy Guns wishes Shaan and Riaz Shahid Films the best of luck for their Independent production of Mission 5” said Asad-ul-Haq and Ali Murtaza on behalf of STG.
Editor’s Note: The last statement makes it seem that Shaan will be producing the film on his own so the project hasn’t been scrapped entirely. We’ll keep you updated on further developments.
END UPDATE
Announced earlier this year, Shiny Toy Guns [STG], headed by the leading advertising filmmaker Asad ul Haq and prominent marketer Ali Murtaza, will co-finance, co-produce and develop their debut venture: Mission 5 [working title], in collaboration with Riaz Shahid Films [RSF] slated to release on Eid-ul-Fitr 2015. The STG Team proudly reveal their core partners and team part of the project.
Originally based out of Singapore and recently launched in Pakistan, Shiny Toy Guns endeavours to create and to provide a platform to launch and support talent related to art of filmmaking and motion pictures, be it directors, actors, producers or writers.
STG and RSF have signed up iconic celebrity stylist Nabila Maqsood as the official styling partner for the project. BAFTA winning Director of Photography, Nicholas D. Knowland [aka Nic Knowland] of Jinnah fame will be the official DoP of the project with Hollywood actor Farhan Tahir, of Iron Man and Star Trek fame, featuring as the main antagonist for Mission 5 [working title] by STG.
STG plans to have Mission 5 [working title] go into production by November 2014. Written by Shaan Shahid, Mission 5 [working title] will be directed by Asad ul Haq himself. Known for his stylish visuals and an obsession for detail, the Ohio University graduate brings to the project years of experience, having pioneered breakthrough television commercial concepts and techniques. Mission 5 [working title] marks Asad’s cinematic debut as a director.
Speaking about his cinematic debut, director Mission 5 [working title] Asad ul Haq of STG has said, “My dad once told me long time ago: “that a story will tell itself, when it’s ready”. Till the last few months I assumed that it wasn’t ready but suddenly I find myself thinking, dreaming about the story 24/7! I guess it’s finally ready to be told.”
Speaking about his first cinematic venture as a producer, Ali Murtaza of STG has said, “A year back when we started talking, thinking – we were not sure what direction to follow, but with our vision of being agents of change for the development of Pakistani cinema today, we are all set to roll out first feature film. I am thrilled and excited to see this dream materialise and look at many more to follow in the years to come. Pakistani film features should compete with international cinema and provide quality entertainment to the people while developing stars, writers, directors and associated industries. This category has immense potential and the private sector can contribute significantly to the development of this industry. So step up with STG!”
With the on-going revival of the Pakistani film industry, NABILA is geared to cater to it in all aspects. Creating characters, styling on location, scouting talent etc. We would like to extend our support to the industry through our close association with Asad ul Haq, a pioneer and a visionary and a close friend in this field, where he has been quick to launch Shiny Toy Guns to facilitate this comeback. We hope to contribute in making it grow larger and stronger.” said Nabila Maqsood.
Creative Chaos are official digital partners for Mission 5 [working title] with all media management by Lotus Client Management & Public Relations. STG will be sharing more details regarding the production, cast and crew members later this year.
