A Star is Born: Actor Asim Mehmood

Asim Mehmood is all set to be Pakistan’s new big star. After winning the top prize in ARY Television’s Hero Ban’nay Ki Tarang in 2010, the handsome young man has spent four years as one of Pakistan’s busiest male models and starred in a string of successful television dramas, including Ghar Aik Jannat, Qarz, Aik Simple Love Kahani, and Babul Ki Duaaeing Leti Ja. The star is busy working on two television serials – GEO Entertainment’s Kaffara and A Plus Television’s Takabbur – as he waits for the spring release of two feature films in which he plays starring roles.

Asim Mehmood plays the second lead in Syed Noor’s upcoming Price of Honor. “I am glad to be a part of a major feature film with one of Pakistan’s finest filmmakers,” says Asim proudly. “Noor Sahib has made a film with a purpose and a message. It is for the first time that the serious subject of honor killings is being addressed in a film in the history of Pakistani cinema. I am confident that the film will receive both critical and commercial success. It is the kind of movie one always remembers.”
Asim Mehmood’s second upcoming movie is a romantic comedy, Hulla Gulla. He stars opposite Sidra Batool in the movie which is directed by Kamran Akbar and produced by Hanif Mohammad. Hulla Gulla is all set for a simultaneous release in Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom in 2015. Asim plays the romantic lead in the movie which also stars veteran’s Javed Sheikh and Ismail Tara. “Working with senior actors like Javed Sheikh and Ismail Tara has been a great experience,” says Asim Mehmood. “These people are great actors. Working with them is not just fun but also a great learning experience.”
