Ally Adnan Celebrates 50th Birthday with a bang!

Sharoot and Ally Adnan may well be the best known couple in Dallas for throwing the most elaborate, enjoyable and entertaining parties; invitations to these exclusive events are highly coveted and people fly in from all over the country to partake in the festivities at the Adnan home. Little wonder than that the who’s who of the Pakistani community in Dallas was looking forward to Ally Adnan’s fiftieth birthday bash, for months, with great excitement and enthusiasm. And the party did not disappoint.

The theme of the party was Pakistani Truck Art. Ally Adnan designed the decorations, invitations, party favors and even the cake for the event himself, using motifs and colors from Pakistani trucks. People flew in from both coasts to attend the event which featured three (3) music programs. The first was Khumariyaan, the KPK based band from Pakistan, currently touring the United States and making waves in the world of music by rousing performances in the toniest of venues including the Kennedy Center. Aamer Shafiq, Farhan Bogra, Shiraz Khan and Sparlay Rawail of the band delighted the audience with their highly creative and aesthetically pleasing interpretations of Pashtun music. The second performance was by vocalist Asad Abbas who performed to rave reviews in Season Six of Coke Studio and is presently working on his first album. Asad sang hits of Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Mehdi Hassan, Muhammad Rafi and Noor Jehan to the delight of everyone who was present. The final performance was by Pakistan’s leading tabla player, Haroon Samuel, who recently moved to the United States and is fast becoming the most sought after percussionist in Indian and Pakistani music circles. Haroon performed a classical solo of teentaal to the highly appreciative audience who were amazed by his knowledge, repertoire and skill.

Music was not the only item on the entertainment roster. Party games – including Passing the Parcel – kept the audience engaged for hours as they competed for truck art-based clocks, mousepads, t-shirts and other miscellaneous item. The all night soiree ended in the early hours of the morning when guests were given good bags with truck art-themed favors including coffee mugs, pens, combs and playing cards.

Arjumand Hashmi, Assim Kazi, Ismail Jilani, Madiha Farooqi, Mona Kazim Shah, Salman Bakhtiyar, Sana Enver, and Shireen Khan were amongst the guest who attended the event.
