Pebble Breakers win final match of Emporium Mall Punjab Polo Cup 2017

Pebble Breakers took home the Emporium Mall Punjab Polo Cup 2017 at the final match of the tournament on Saturday, 4th March at Lahore Polo Club. The match took place in Lahore Polo Club between the qualifying teams of Pebble Breakers and Master Paints (Black).

The match between Pebble Breakers and Master Paints (Black) was memorable as Pebble Breakers outran Master Paints (Black) by 7-5 ½ to clinch the historical Emporium Mall Punjab Polo Cup. The extraordinary performance of Saqib Khan Khakwani earned him the prestigious award of Man of the Match.  In the subsidiary final, Barry’s beat Newage/Master Paints by 6-3.

Governor Punjab Muhammad Rafique Rajwana attended the final as Chief Guest while Nishat Group Chairman Mian Muhammad Mansha was Guest of Honour, representing sponsor Emporium Mall by Nishat Group. Also present at the final were Lahore Polo Club President Irfan Ali Hyder, executive committee members, their families and a large number of polo enthusiasts.

Shields and trophies were distributed by the Chief Guest among the winners and top performers. Members of the winning team including Mohsin Atta Khan Khosa, Raja Temur Nadeem, Saqib Khan Khakwani and Guy Gibrat were awarded the historical Punjab Polo Cup by Chief Guest Governor Punjab Muhammad Rafique Rajwana and Guest of Honour Mian Muhammad Mansha.

The matches for the Punjab Polo Cup commenced on Tuesday, 28th February. As one of the World’s oldest polo clubs, Lahore Polo Club relishes the prestigious history of playing the game of Kings. At the inauguration event of the tournament, it was also announced that the Punjab Polo trophy happens to be the oldest polo trophy being played for in Pakistan having been introduced in 1886.
