Recently selected to tour the United States as part of the Center Stage program, the Peshawar based band, Khumariyaan, is all set to rock the country with their richly layered and energetic music. The band is known synthesizing ancient Pushtun music with modern music and creating music uniquely their own, one that is neither fusion nor traditional, but an intelligent interpretation of Afghan, Pakistani and Persian musical traditions.

Islamabad’s top celebrity photographer, Shaharyar Khan, took some shots of the four band members – Farhan Bogra, Shiraz Khan, Sparlay Rawail and Aamer Shafiq, for Vmag recently at Islamabad’s famed Italian restaurant, the posh Tuscany Courtyard.

  1. Khumariyaan is a seriously good band. Their sound is unmistakably South Asian and distinctly original. A nice short write-up by veteran journalist, Ally Adnan, and great photos by Shaharyar Khan. I have started logging in to vmag each morning just to see what new piece has been published. Looking forward to the print copy.
